UltimateHuman.Org Interviews "Dr. Luke" - M Lucius Pomerantz, MD
Dr. M Lucius Pomerantz — also known as Dr. Luke — is a board certified orthopedic surgeon & hand surgeon from Santa Cruz, California.
He's a team physician for the San Diego Gulls hockey team and a ringside doctor in combat sports. He's also a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and former mixed martial arts (MMA) competitor.
Here's his exclusive interview with UltimateHuman.Org:
What originally inspired you to get into medicine/ health/ wellness?
The desire to help people better understand and heal their bodies and return to the activities that they love.
What’s your favorite part about working in health?
Seeing a patient improve and reach their goals.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
Providing high-level subspecialist care to those in need. As a hand surgery specialist who trained for 11 years after college, I take pride in being available to my patients & providing the best care possible to whoever I see.
What’s something new in health/wellness you wish more people knew about?
"Movement is Medicine." There is growing evidence that activities as simple as walking or gardening can help with anxiety, depression, memory/ learning, quality of life, and longevity. In other words, it may not have to be intense exercise to be beneficial.
If you could wave a magic wand and fix something about the modern-day healthcare system, what would it be?
To create better systems for earlier and better access to care.
What are you most excited about in the future of health?
Scientific advances in tissue regeneration (e.g stem cells, etc.).
Is there anything else you’d like to add? A message you’d like to share?
My goal is to keep people active and doing the things they love.
At UltimateHuman.Org, we talk about what you need to look, feel, and be your best self.
