Now, here's her exclusive interview with UltimateHuman.Org:

What originally inspired you to get into medicine/ health/ wellness?

I have always considered myself a healthy individual. As a personal trainer, I exercised, ate well, and maintained a healthy weight/body composition. My annual blood work was NORMAL and it revealed nothing but HEALTH.

Any symptoms — PMS, migraines, bloating, low back pain, stiff neck, gas, mood swings, fatigue — could be explained away as "that's just life" or "you can take a pill for that". And that's what I did... until... I knew better.

It wasn’t until I started gaining weight and experiencing overwhelming stress, anxiety, and fatigue that I started to realize something was wrong. I tried lowering my carb intake, eating only protein, doing more cardio, and using more caffeine & fat burners to lose weight and power through my days... but nothing seemed to work.

Fortunately for me, I found the CHEK Institute, Hawthorn University, and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition. My education and training through these 3 organizations provided a deeper understanding of physiology and how stress, diet, and lifestyle choices had a powerful impact on health.

I was introduced to functional lab testing that revealed my stress out of control, hormones were out of balance and many of the foods I was eating were causing inflammation throughout my body. This opportunity to assess and look closely at what was going on “inside” allowed me to make specific lifestyle changes “outside” to restore my health.

I became committed to helping others investigate and uncover their unique opportunities for healing, especially when those individuals are searching for answers and are being told that "nothing is wrong, your labs look normal." I had been told that for years and know how frustrating it can be.

What’s your favorite part about working in health?

I love learning more about the human body and how it works; and then being able to teach my clients about their physiology and empowering them to take control of their health to feel better, have more energy, and live a life they love!

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

I'm proud of the fact that the work I do every day really matters; I get to help people change their lives by improving their health.

What’s something new in health/ wellness you wish more people knew about?

Tuning into the wisdom of nature to restore health, balance, and resilience.

While it's not a new concept, it's one that needs to be prioritized:

  • Getting outside

  • Fresh air

  • Sunshine

  • Walking barefoot on the sand or grass

  • Getting up with the sun & preparing for rest as the sun sets

  • Eating based on seasons

  • And allowing the body the benefits of enjoying all 4 seasons

Each strategy above has a purpose and we can learn a lot when we tune into nature.

If you could wave a magic wand and fix something about the modern-day healthcare system, what would it be?

I want a healthcare system that truly understands what it means to have a strong, healthy, and resilient body.

I want a system that is proactive in helping people adopt nutrition & lifestyle habits to build, restore, maintain, and optimize health — rather than a reactive system that prescribes pills and procedures that don't address the root cause.

Healthcare should incorporate a variety of strategies and approaches that improve body, mind, and spirit. Each area is an important part of the whole person and necessary for vibrant health and longevity.

What are you most excited about in the future of health?

I'm excited that information and education about optimal health, longevity, and biohacking are so easily available to everyone. And I'm excited to see more and more people taking responsibility for their health, rather than leaving it up to a dysfunctional healthcare system.

Is there anything else you’d like to add? A message you’d like to share?

Health is the greatest gift you can give yourself, your family, and the world around you.

When you have health, you have more light and love to share with the world. With more light and love, the world is a happier place to live.
