Ross Tomkins is an author, physiotherapist, and healthcare entrepreneur from Newcastle, UK.

For more than 2 decades, Ross has dedicated his career to helping people recover & reach optimal health.

As the founder of Alphagenix, he helps men to regain their power and fight back against "male menopause" — mostly through testosterone replacement therapy.

You can find him on YouTube here and on LinkedIn here.

Now, here's his exclusive interview with UltimateHuman.Org:

What originally inspired you to get into health/ wellness?

I was always fascinated by the human body as a child:

  • How did we evolve?

  • Why did we evolve?

  • What makes one person faster, stronger, or more prone to injury?

These kinds of questions lead me into the field of musculoskeletal medicine as a physiotherapist.

What’s your favorite part about working in health?

My favorite aspect of working in health is the diagnostic nature of what we do.

Rather than simply patching-up symptoms, we're more curious about the deeper root cause of their pain or problem.

It's kind of like being a detective:

If a test is negative then it can't be "a, b, or c." And if the following set of blood tests are normal, then it can't be "d, e, or f." Which means — if the next set of tests are positive — it must be "x, y, or z."

We can piece together a jigsaw & find the missing piece of the puzzle.

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

I am most proud of the awesome team that we have created over the years.

Most physiotherapists stay within their field of expertise, such as neurological, elderly, or musculoskeletal...

But we've created an entire men's health brand with incredible doctors, strength & conditioning coaches, nutritional therapists, and mindset coaches.

What’s something new in health/ wellness you wish more people knew about?

My passion is definitely to educate as many people as possible about the male menopause (or more accurately — andropause).

Up to 40% of men may suffer from low mood, low energy, weight gain, loss of libido, brain fog, erectile dysfunction, and loss of muscle mass in their 40's and 50's.

This is largely due to normal hormonal changes, but 90% never seek treatment because they often wrongly assume — or in some cases are told by unsuspecting health professionals — that they are simply getting old.

As someone who personally suffered for many years with these symptoms, I can attest to the restorative powers of hormone replacement therapy or testosterone optimization.

I'm now on a mission to share this message as wide as possible.

If you could wave a magic wand and fix something about the modern-day healthcare system, what would it be?

That's easy — it would be to increase the educational aspect of modern medicine, rather than simply dolling out pharmaceuticals.

I know I just extolled the virtues of exogenous testosterone treatment for men... but in truth, testosterone is not magic:

Taken in isolation, it will make a difference to a man's life, but it can only be truly transformative when combined with education.

Optimal lifestyle choices including optimal diet, optimal exercise, and optimal sleep are all crucial. And this is not just our hormonal health, but for all aspects of our lives.

If this education was better, I suspect many hormone imbalances, symptoms, syndromes, and modern diseases would be eradicated.

What are you most excited about in the future of health?

I'm most excited about the work being done in the longevity space — such as hormone optimization, peptides, neuroregulators, stem cells, red light therapy, and hyperbaric chambers.

These things take me back to the type of fascination I had as a child.

Is there anything else you’d like to add? A message you’d like to share?

Don't settle for mediocre or average health; aim for optimal.
